We’re excited to launch a summer Faculty Funding Initiative, supported by our KEEN program, to help faculty develop educational activities that integrate Entrepreneurial Minded Learning (EML) into their courses or other educational programs. This initiative provides financial support for faculty to:

  • Incorporate Entrepreneurial Minded Learning (EML) into a Course (Up to $1,500, 5 awards)
Faculty can apply for funding to redesign or enhance their courses with a focus on opportunity recognition, creative problem-solving, and delivering value (or other EML principles). A focus on implementing activities from Engineering Unleashed is encouraged. Priority will be given to efforts targeting first- and second-year courses.
  • Develop a KEEN Card for Engineering Unleashed ($500, 4 awards)
Faculty can create and share an innovative EML-focused teaching approach, high-impact classroom activity or assignment, or engagement activities with the broader KEEN network.
  • Host a Workshop on EML-inspired Teaching ($500, 6 awards)
Funding is available for faculty who wish to design and facilitate a workshop, lunch & learn, or book club that promotes EML-focused strategies in engineering education.
  • Additional support for supplies (up to $500) is available for any of the above efforts.
Funding must support education-related activities that align with the KEEN mission of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset in engineering education. Eligible uses include educational resources, professional development opportunities, classroom integration materials, or educational research and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) studies that enhance your teaching and create value for students.

To submit an application, fill out the application form below and submit to Jennifer-fiegel@uiowa.edu by June 1 (decisions will be made on applications as they are submitted). Additional information about KEEN, EML and the Engineering Unleash program are available at https://engineeringunleashed.com/

If you have questions or would like to talk through an idea, feel free to reach out to anyone on the Leadership team. We look forward to supporting your innovative teaching efforts and expanding the impact of EML across the college.

Cheers,
The KEEN Leadership Team
