Public Health Response to Wildfire Smoke in Iowa: What’s in Store for 2024 promotional image

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024 the Iowa Institute for Public Health Practice, Research and Policy will host a webinar on wildfire smoke in Iowa. This free webinar will explore atmospheric phenomena, meteorology, pulmonary toxicology & environmental epi, health effects and public health preparedness and response.

The panel of experts will include:

  • Charles O. Stanier: Professor, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Researcher, Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research, Research Engineer, IIHR-Hydroscience and Engineering
  • Dr. Peter Thorne: professor in the UI College of Public Health’s Department of Occupational & Environmental Health and co-director of the Environmental Health Sciences Research Center. He has held a number of prominent national leadership positions, including serving as chairman of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board.
  • Wanda Reiter Kintz: Air Quality Branch Supervisor, serving EPA’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee
