The College of Engineering (COE) and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Council are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for COE faculty, staff, and students.

The DEI council invites proposals for faculty, staff, or student led DEI initiatives within the college. We welcome proposals from individuals, teams, students, staff organizations, and/or departments. Student Organizations that apply must be recognized by the office of Leadership, Service, and Civic Engagement and the College of Engineering. This is a rolling submission deadline, which means you can apply at any time.

SUBMIT PROPOSALS HERE

Please submit a proposal of no more than two pages as a single pdf document. Complete applications should include the following information in this order:

1. Title of Project

2. Contact Information: Name of person submitting the proposal (one name per group) and the name of the group affiliation if applicable, such as a Student Organization.

3. Initiative Description. Describe what you or your group will do, including the dates of the event being planned.

4. DEI rationale. Describe why/how you think your initiative will advance DEI in the college and the audience that your activities will impact. We encourage proposals that provide some rationale or evidence as to why the initiative will help improve DEI in the college.

5. An estimated budget. Funds may be requested for up to $3,000 and funds must be spent by June 1, 2021. Please provide sufficient details for the Council to understand how the funds will be used. Note that purchasing merchandise for events is not eligible for the funding call. For conference or other travel related requests, please see the DEI student professional development funding application. However, this grant does allow travel costs to bring speakers to the UI.

Proposals will be reviewed by the DEI Council.

Mayor's Youth Empowerment Program STEM Workshop
