Biomedical Engineering (BME) Discovery Day

Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 9:30am-4:20 pm

BME Discovery day is a one-day virtual conference where BME students, faculty, staff, and alumni can come together to foster career exploration and occupational guidance, learn about industry trends, and build relationships through networking.

Logistics: All sessions will be held through Zoom and each session has a corresponding Zoom link. All sessions will have an Iowa College of Engineering representative to introduce the speaker(s) and facilitate the session when needed. 

Steps for Success: 

1. If you have not already, download Zoom and make sure that you are using the latest version.

2. Please use your UIowa email to log into Zoom if you are a current student, staff, or faculty. 

3. If possible, please consider turning on your video.

4. Plan your day by reviewing the schedule and panelists below.

Keynote Speaker, Kaitlyn Roth (Zoom link

Kaitlyn Roth currently serves as the VP of Operations for Melodi Health, a company that offers novel surgical solutions to women undergoing breast surgery. Roth holds experience of more than eight years in the medical device industry with a focus in cardiac and women’s health to bring unique, innovative solutions to unmet clinical needs. She is experienced in product development of Class III devices through commercialization and in leading large cross functional teams. Roth is skilled in strategic problem solving and ability to see the big picture while being detail oriented. Her interests include broadening competencies, entrepreneurial experiences, and working globally.

Roth holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa and a minor in German. Her international experiences include studying abroad in Germany and volunteering in hospitals with Engineering World Health in Nicaragua.
