Welcome Transfer Students

The Student Development Center offers a wide variety of resources to help students have smooth transfer to The University of Iowa College of Engineering. Please click on the links below to use one of our resources.

Students who are transferring from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences may want to set up an appointment with Jane Dorman to go over admission details. Students who are transferring from another institution outside of The University of Iowa may want to set up an appointment with Megan Allen.

Transferring Credit

How do I get transfer credit approved:

The Transfer Guides outlined below provide a list of engineering courses that have been approved for transfer at select Iowa and Illinois colleges. ISIS is also a very useful search tool to find non-engineering transfer courses that are offered at other Iowa institutions and several out-of state colleges.

NOTE: Courses listed in the college transfer guides or on ISIS have been pre-approved for transfer and DO NOT require any additional paper work. Transfer credit not listed in the above two search options will require advisor and department chair approval, except for general education courses which require approval from the Student Development Center only. Transfer credit is evaluated after the student submits a course description and a completed Transfer Credit Agreement Form to the Student Development Center, 3124 SC. Students studying abroad will follow the same procedures but should submit the Study Abroad Credit Agreement Form.

NOTE: A grade of C- or higher is required for transfer credit to be applied toward a BSE degree. Remember to have an official transcript sent directly to the UI Admissions Office, 108 Calvin Hall, Iowa City, Iowa, 52245.
