Candidates for Degree

An Application for Degree must be filed in order to be considered eligible for graduation. Remember to note any minors you will be receiving on your application. A $35 graduation fee will billed to your UI account.

Application deadline dates for filing are:

The University does not confer a degree without receiving your Application for Degree. It is your responsibility to apply for degree.

An Application for Degree must be filed with the Office of the Registrar no later than 4:30 p.m. on the deadline date. Applications may be submitted at the Registrar's Service Center, 17 Calvin Hall. Undergraduate students may file degree applications on ISIS for the current or the next session's graduation.

If you miss the application deadline date, you will need to go to 1 Jessup Hall to apply for graduation.

Commencement Program

The College of Engineering offers a Fall and Spring Commencement Program. There is No Summer commencement program for undergraduates in the College of Engineering. Undergraduates that will earn their degree at the conclusion of the summer session should participate in the Spring Commencement Program (commencement dates)

Graduation Analysis

Engineering students will receive a final graduation analysis around mid-term of the semester for which you submit your Application for Degree. Students can conduct their own Graduation Analysis by reviewing their degree evaluation on ISIS and then clearing up any deficiencies prior to graduation.

Graduating with Distinction - The college awards distinction honors for students graduating in the top 10% of their graduating class. Ranking is based on students' grade-point averages for all college-level study undertaken up to their final registration. To be eligible to graduate with distinction, students must take their final 60 s.h. of study in residence at the college and must have completed at least 45 s.h. of study in the college before their final registration. Students in the combined engineering/liberal arts and sciences program are eligible for this recognition regardless of the college in which they complete their residency requirements.

With Highest Distinction to students in the highest 2 percent of their graduating class

With High Distinction to students in the next-highest 3 percent

With Distinction to students in the next-highest 5 percent.
